Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan

On November 14, 2024 (Thursday), Ambassador Lee Eun-yong hosted a welcome dinner at his residence for Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, and Ruhangiz Heydarova, Chairperson of the Korea-Azerbaijan Cultural Exchange Association (SEBA), who were visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29).

At the event, Mayor Lee explained how Pohang City is contributing to climate change mitigation through support for the development of eco-friendly technologies. He also expressed interest in strengthening city-to-city cooperation with Azerbaijani local governments.

Chairperson Heydarova welcomed the Pohang Mayor's visit to Azerbaijan on the occasion of COP29 and emphasized that efforts to combat climate change must involve not only national governments but also local governments and individuals.

Ambassador Lee promised continued support and attention to further expanding climate change cooperation between Korea and Azerbaijan, as well as enhancing city-to-city partnerships between the two countries.
