On November 20, 2024 (Wednesday), Ambassador Lee Eun-yong hosted a welcome dinner for Kim Wan-seob, the Minister of Environment of South Korea, who was visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29).
At the event, Minister Kim shared the key agenda and outcomes of COP29, explaining South Korea's proposed carbon neutrality and green growth policy initiatives, as well as strategies for overcoming the climate crisis through multilateral cooperation in the international community. He particularly highlighted the technologies and policy examples that South Korea showcased during major side events at COP29, such as the Blue Zone sessions, emphasizing that Korea's climate and environmental vision is gaining international attention.
Ambassador Lee welcomed Minister Kim's remarks and the prominence of South Korea’s climate policies as a central issue at COP29. He expressed hope that, through this, South Korea would play a leading role in addressing climate change and advancing the transition to a sustainable green economy. Furthermore, the Ambassador promised continued efforts to strengthen cooperation between Korea and Azerbaijan and to promote the development of climate governance at both the regional and international levels.
